The Davian Letter

The Davian Letter

Born from the ashes of financial destruction, The Davian Letter launched in October of 2008. What once started as a client letter has since blossomed into one of the premier financial market and economic newsletters on the Internet. The Davian Letter strives not only to empower our subscribers with first class information, but also to provide to them an internet experience unlike any other financial website.

We believe information should come from those that do and not those that don’t. Gone are the days of cut and dry financial information, run by “old ivy-league fat cats.” Buy and hold, is buy and broke. We are not the status quo, we are not writing algorithms to trade, and we don’t make messes for taxpayers to clean up. I am Anthony Davian, and I want to personally welcome you to what is new, young, and profitable. Welcome to The Davian Letter.

I have been trading the markets since 2001, and the first position that I ever took lost 100% of its value, but I vowed from then on to learn as much as I could. I haven’t looked back since, and I have outperformed the S&P 500 every year since 2002. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, graduated from Holy Name High School in 1998, and earned my B.S. from The University of Akron in Accountancy. I went on to form Davian Capital L.P., a long/short hedge fund, and decided to launch The Davian Letter in October 2008 to help out those investors the SEC deems too “average” to invest in hedge funds. Currently, I reside in Akron, Ohio with my lovely wife Danielle and our two crazy bulldogs – Hank “the tank” and Woody.

Dasan narrowly survived a few years as a Military Intelligence officer in various tropical locales before learning how Wall Street really works during stints at Merrill Lynch, PaineWebber, and UBS. To treat himself for his short-term trading addiction, Dasan voluntarily entered the Columbia Business School Value Investing program. He was partially cured of his condition there by the modern masters of Value Investing.

Dasan has been practicing his own hybrid of “new growth value investing” in Hedgistan for the last few years. He focuses entirely on technology and gaming stocks with occasional regretful forays into other sectors.

In his daily blog, Dasan highlights news items and facts, focusing on the stocks he owns and writes about for his stock market newsletter. His unconventional way of thinking may inform, enrich, surprise, or even offend you.

Airelon's passion in regards to life, is simply... life. A teacher, as well as student of many interests, Airelon studies (Studies. Not speaks, studies) 13 languages and is conversant in three. He studies sciences as exotic as "textual criticism". Although his primarily interest is in the spiritual, he also follows the arts, history, travel, literature, and all of the things in life that make life worth living. At least for Airelon.

Airelon began trading in 1996 as a Commodities Futures trader. Yes, straight out of the gate, he threw caution to the wind and flew in where angels dare to tread. Such immediate risk taking was not without consequences. After serious losses in the markets, this led him to the belief that the 5 principles of money management and serious psychological discipline were the only ways to succeed.

Investing as a Large and Midcap Dividend DRIP investor since 2002 as well as a commodity futures short term swing trader, Airelon has been known to occasionally dabble in the short term common stock swing trades as well. Airelon began blogging and vlogging for the public in 2007 in an attempt to give back much of what he has learned over the course of the last 13 years.

At Davian Letter, I write Weekly FX Strategy, a review of weekly Commitment of Traders data as well as comment/analysis of economic data and monetary policy.

SS traces her passion for all things fashion to age 7, when she first clopped around the house in her underoos wearing Mommy’s 120mm Louboutins. Countless worn-out soles later, this miss has added a few new loves—namely finance, nouveau French cuisine, and Perfect Manhattans (equal parts sweet and dry vermouth, for all you uninitiated.) After outclassing and grabassing her way through the Ivy League (hint: the faux-pretentious, elitist, gabardine-wearing one… does that narrow it down?) with an economics degree, SS moved on to bigger and better quarry: the Internet (where you don’t even need to join an eating club or secret society to be cool!)

Stilettos & Stocks is a blog that aims to provide insight into both the financial and broader aspects of the consumer/retail space, with the occasional missive for the fashion-challenged.

My name is Zachary Musso (ZMoose) and I am the trader who follows Micro Caps for The Davian Letter. I began blogging in December of 2008 when I opened "MooseJaw Jabber: Technical Trading" to the public, and I've been blogging since. I bring a youthful edge to The Davian Letter, as my trading style is unique yet basic enough to be easily understood and followed by everyone. I trade using Technical Analysis and I am 100% discretionary when I do so - no system will ever run my money for me. I look forward to making a difference at The Davian Letter by teaching some of you how to successfully trade Micro Caps while learning the ease of Technical Analysis and trend trading.

I am Dexter. I only prey on those that deserve it. Some say I am speaking the truth, others say I am a "shock jock" or an idiot. Whatever I may be, I probably have more experience than you and I am smarter than you. My current job requires that I operate among the shadows, which is fine. It allows me to speak my mind and provide some clarity in this Wall Street game.

My name is Michael, and I’ve been investing since the early 90’s. I’m a long time position trader, having sought maximum portfolio returns through aggressive portfolio allocation into timely market sectors, foreign markets, and commodities -- until 2007.

Around October 2007, I went almost 100 % cash having observed an inverted yield curve at the beginning of the year. Observing this rare but accurate predictor of recession allowed me to exit the market a month or two before the moving average crossovers were telling traders to get out. By then, many market participants were trapped.

Since then, have gravitated toward becoming a full-time day and swing trader given the choppy, directionless realities of today’s stock market. I’m constantly trying to learn and explore trading tools that best match my style and personality. I love trading patterns with good reward/risk setups. Most recently, I have been taking a stab at E-mini Futures, with mixed results so far.

Trading, investing, market analysis and economics are my love. I reside with my wife in suburban Atlanta, Ga, and graduated from U. of South Carolina, MA, Econ. (1975), BS, Business (1973). Woodstock generation.
