There is a lot of new competition coming into the smartphone space. Smidiots that 3 years ago said Apple stock sucked because they didn't have enough share in the PC market have been shown to be the intellectual midgets that they are. They do dress quite nicely, however, and they have nifty floppy disk collections.
To piggyback off Mr. Davian's vlogs on the smartphone space, let me share my thoughts on the SmartPhone space. You probably will disagree strongly with me -opinions are like assholes, we all have them and I've been accused of being one in the past.
Durable goods orders up for 4 time in last 6 months, 1% increase met surveys.

The fourth element of the monthly Dasan Stock Digest is the Dasan Focus Report. In this report, I cover whatever I find interesting at the time. In this particular issue, I will cover what has to be the story of the week for any stock investor - the trading in Amazon shares in 2009, culminating in Friday’s 25% move.
When earnings season is in full swing, I get the shakes from Doodle Jump withdrawal. My writing skills, which are normally at least an eighth-grade level, decline to that of a typical 9 year-old product of our lovely public school system. Since I'm drowning under a tsunami of tech earnings calls this week, the only thing I will share on the blog today is these two nifty charts that show my proprietary index of DRAM and NAND contract pricing. Make of them what you will - I may still be influenced by the unbelievable lunch I had at Le Bernadin yesterday, but these charts look nice to me.
The phrase "what's your edge?" is so common in Hedgistan, I'm truly sick of it. I'm happy as hell to see the Galleon guys take the perp walk. I've been asked again and again how I can get an "edge" in Apple, which is my biggest holding (since 2001) and so widely followed on the street.
SEC, caught with their pants down on the Madoff scandal, decided to wake up and start doing their job. They promise to crackdown on widespread insider trading supposedly going on in Hedgistan.
61% of companies reporting earnings so far have reported better-than-expected revenue. 79% beat eps expectations. Reporting this week: AAPL, TXN, SNDK, STX, YHOO, CTXS, EBAY, VMW, EQIX, EMC,T, BRCM, JNPR, AMZN, WDC, RVBD, NFLX, MSFT.
GOOG beat in a big way, even beating whispers. Says “clearly worst of recession is behind us” and company is back in growth mode. Pretty simple model – $6B revenue, $2B plus of free cash flow. Not too shabby. In the Q, about 11.1 billion paid clicks at about 35 cents each. Wow!
You may recall last month, BING was gaining a lot of search share. We got a lot of good comments on the merits of Bing search vis-a-vis Google. Well, they are still gaining- does this change your thought process?
