Economic & Market Commentary

US/N.America commentary: Anyone that has read this newsletter on a daily basis knows our thoughts on consumer confidence and how the economy/markets will not recover until consumers feel more confident. A report out today showed that confidence plunged to record lows in the US last month. While most expected the Conference’s Board’s index to decline in January, no one thought the index was drop off a cliff and come in at 25 for last month.

Economic, Stock Market, & Trading Commentary

There is a host of good data out today and we are going to get right to it. Starting with economic data, consumer confidence fell in January to record levels because of renewed concerns about job losses and further deterioration of the economy. The Conference Board’s index of consumer confidence fell to 37.7, which was a bit of a shocker, since most estimates were for the index to rise to 39 from 38.6 in December.
